Although it was a bit of a guilty pleasure, I had a terrific time watching "South Park - The Complete Fourth Season" on DVD. "South Park" can be a lot of fun, but it is also a very silly show that's often politically incorrect and has an unabashedly nasty edge at times.
The artistic quality of what I saw was a little uneven and some episodes were more enjoyable than others. But, overall, I found the DVDs were laugh-out-loud funny and entertaining.
Just in case you haven't heard this elsewhere, I should warn you that the humor in "South Park" is definitely for grown-ups and can be crass and tasteless. The DVD set is not rated in the United States. In Canada it is rated 14A. The DVD set carries the following parental advisory. Explicit Content Warning: This program is recommended for mature audiences only. It contains adult language and situations.
The DVD set contains all the fourth season episodes. In addition, there are mini commentaries by the show's creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone. I was surprised that there weren't more bonus features on the DVDs. However, I think the entertainment value of the episodes is what makes this DVD set worth watching. I wouldn't really blame anyone for skipping the mini commentaries.
This DVD set makes for a great way for fans of the show to watch their favorite episodes repeatedly. And, if you've never caught the fourth season of "South Park" on cable, the DVD set makes a good way to catch up on what you have missed.
