'The Ugly Truth' DVD
Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler are paired in this romantic comedy that has lots of crude, raunchy talk. Abby (Heigl) is a single woman with control issues who produces a Sacramento morning TV show, and she gets forced into working with the crass Mike (Butler). The two initially don't like each other, but nevertheless he ends up giving her dating advice when she sets her cap for a handsome orthopedic surgeon. Mike coaches Abby through a makeover, and she wears an earphone so he can talk her through a date. At one point she wears underpants with a built-in vibrator.
'Up' DVD
This crowd-pleasing, pretty animated film is a Disney release of a Pixar production. Carl (voice of Ed Asner) is a grumpy 78-year-old balloon seller grieving over the death of his wife. He ties thousands of balloons to his house, which takes flight and transports him to a scenic place in South America. A pudgy kid named Russell (voice of Jordan Nagai) happens to get carried along with Carl, and the old man and the boy have a series of adventures. They encounter a giant plumed bird, talking dogs and an eccentric explorer voiced by Christopher Plummer.
