Matt Damon stars in this action thriller directed by Paul Greengrass (The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum). The story is set in 2003, shortly after the US-led invasion of Iraq. The main character is Roy Miller (Damon), a US Army warrant officer in charge of a unit tasked with securing sites supposed to contain weapons of mass destruction (WMD). Miller's men are put in danger, yet no WMD are being found, and he sets out to uncover what is going on. Other characters include a bureaucrat (Greg Kinnear), a CIA agent (Brendan Gleeson) and a news reporter (Amy Ryan).

Helen Mirren and Christopher Plummer star in this historical drama set in 1910 about the last days of Leo Tolstoy, author of War and Peace and Anna Karenina. Plummer plays Tolstoy, and the story's conflict is a dispute between his wife Sofya (Mirren) and his closest friend Vladimir Chertkov (Paul Giamatti) over what should become of the aging author's copyrights after his death. Caught in the middle is the film's main character, Tolstoy's secretary Valentin Bulgakov (James McAvoy). Along the way, Bulgakov gets into a romance with an attractive young woman (Kerry Condon).

Robert Pattinson (the Twilight series) and Emilie de Ravin (TV's Roswell and Lost) are paired in this romantic drama. The story is set in the summer of 2001 in New York, where Tyler (Pattinson) and Ally (de Ravin) are college-age young adults. Tyler's family is well-to-do, while Ally's is blue-collar, but they nonetheless fall in love, partly because they have both had tragedy in their lives. Ally's mom was murdered, while Tyler's brother committed suicide. Moreover, for the audience, the specter of 9/11 looms. Pierce Brosnan portrays Tyler's dad, and Chris Cooper plays Ally's.

Jay Baruchel played supporting roles in Knocked Up and Tropic Thunder, and now he graduates to being the lead in this raunchy, but sweet comedy. In Pittsburgh, Kirk (Baruchel) works for TSA, which screens passengers at American airports. When Molly (Alice Eve), a good-looking and poised air traveler, forgets her phone, Kirk returns it to her. This leads to dating, even though he is not especially physically attractive and has no discernable talent. Kirk's coworkers keep telling him his relationship with Molly has no chance of success, and romantic complications arise.
