Daniel Craig and Liev Schreiber star in this Holocaust movie based on a true story and directed by Edward Zwick. The setting is Belorus around the time the Nazis invaded and occupied that part of the Soviet Union. The German army and their local collaborators set out to find and destroy all Jews, and the Bielski brothers — Tuvia (Craig), Zus (Schreiber) and Asael (Jamie Bell) — flee into a forest. There they are joined by others, and they manage to form a community that saves about 1200 Jews. The resisters have to fight to survive, and they must deal with many moral issues.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet portray a married couple in this drama directed by Sam Mendes. The story, adapted from Richard Yates' celebrated 1961 novel, is about conformity and alienation. The movie takes place in 1955, and the Wheelers, Frank (DiCaprio) and April (Winslet), live in a suburban house in Connecticut. Frank works at an office-machines company in Manhattan, while April takes care of the house and their two kids. But the Wheelers are suffocating, and they struggle with their feelings of being trapped. The film received three Oscar nominations.
