An Academy Award nominee for Best Foreign Film, this is a Danish-language drama. Jacob (Mads Mikkelsen, who played the villain in Casino Royale) runs a financially troubled orphanage in India, not having been in his native Denmark for years. Then a rich Dane named Jorgen promises a large donation, and Jacob travels to Copenhagen to get it. While there, he attends his benefactor's daughter's wedding, and it turns out he knows Jorgen's wife. As Jacob begins to come to terms with his past, the movie captures big emotions. In The Astronaut Farmer, Thornton plays a Texas rancher named Charles Farmer. As a young man, Farmer was in the astronaut program when family circumstances forced him to drop out. Now he has spent years building a rocket in his barn and plans to put himself in orbit. Two children find a box which was sent from the future in an effort to save humankind from ecological catastrophe in this sci-fi family movie. Ten-year-old Noah and his younger sister Emma are at the beach when they discover the box, which contains various items, including a stuffed rabbit called Mimzy. The kids soon develop supernatural powers, which are noticed by a science teacher and his New Age girlfriend.
