September 20, 2011 - New DVD Releases:
Bride Flight DVD
Length: 130 minutes
MPAA Rating: R for a strong sex scene and some graphic nudity
This romantic melodrama from the Netherlands is the kind of old-fashioned film Hollywood no longer makes, and it's an interesting period piece with fine New Zealand scenery. The story is inspired by a real-life 1953 KLM flight from London to Christchurch, New Zealand, on which the passengers were mostly Dutch brides-to-be flying to be reunited with their fiancés and start a new life among the Kiwis. The tale unfolds in flashbacks: when three 70-something women attend a man's funeral, they recall things that happened during that flight, as well as experiences they had in the 1950s and 1960s.

Bridesmaids DVD
Length: The unrated version of Bridesmaids is 131 minutes long. The original theatrical version of this movie runs 125 minutes.
MPAA Rating: R for some strong sexuality, and language throughout
Kristen Wiig stars in this raunchy, gross, but sweet comedy where all the important characters are women. (Judd Apatow co-produced, and this movie is basically a female version of his male-oriented comedies that were box-office hits.) Annie (Wiig) is an unmarried woman in her late 30s, and her bakery business has failed. Now her best friend (Maya Rudolph) is getting married, and Annie is maid of honor. But everything goes wrong for Annie as she tries to arrange things for the bride-to-be and her four bridesmaids, leading to lots of profanity, bodily-function humor and sex-oriented gags.

The Kennedys DVD
Length: 353 minutes
MPAA Rating: This is a TV miniseries and is not rated by the MPAA.
This is an eight-episode TV miniseries dramatizing the lives of the Kennedy family, particularly Jack (Greg Kinnear), Jackie (Katie Holmes), Bobby (Barry Pepper) and patriarch Joe (Tom Wilkinson). It was commissioned by the History Channel, but aired on the ReelzChannel. The total runtime is not quite six hours. The miniseries spans about 30 years from Joe's support of the 1938 Munich Agreement to Bobby's assassination in 1968. There are major public occurrences, such as the Ole Miss riot and the Cuban Missile Crisis, along with some dirt like Jack's philandering and Joe's Mafia connections.
