Steven Soderbergh (Traffic, Ocean's Eleven) directed this thriller which features a strong ensemble cast that includes Kate Winslet, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow and Elliott Gould. A Minneapolis woman returns home from a Hong Kong business trip and comes down with a mysterious flu. Soon the disease is popping up all over the globe, and personnel for the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization struggle with the epidemic. An Internet journalist spreads misinformation as the social order collapses and millions die.

Don't Be Afraid of the Dark DVD

A remake of a classic made-for-TV movie that originally aired on ABC in 1973, this haunted-house film was produced and co-written by Guillermo del Toro and stars Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and child actress Bailee Madison (Bridge to Terabithia). Alex (Pearce), an architect, and his much younger girlfriend Kim (Holmes), an interior decorator, move into an old Rhode Island mansion. They are joined there by Alex's daughter Sally (Madison), who's about 10, from a previous marriage. Sally goes poking around in the basement and encounters horrible tiny creatures that have fangs and claws.

Shark Night DVD

This horror movie features a good-looking young cast led by Sara Paxton, Dustin Milligan and Chris Carmac. Seven university undergraduates go for a weekend of relaxation at the isolated Louisiana lake house belonging to the family of Sara (Paxton). Shortly after arrival there, the young adults find themselves being viciously attacked by a variety of shark species. Soon the students are visited by a couple of local rednecks and the town sheriff, and an explanation emerges as to how the sharks came to be living in the lake. After the closing credits, the actors reprise the film's plot in a hip-hop number.
