The Netflix class-action lawsuit settlement has at last been finalized along the lines previously reported, and if you were a Netflix subscriber prior to January 15, 2005, you are probably eligible to get a small benefit out of it. Former subscribers can get a month of free rentals. Current subscribers can get a free upgrade for a month, which typically means that at no extra cost they can rent four DVDs at a time instead of three. The place to begin the process of claiming your benefit is presumably still http://www.netflix.com/settlement, although when I went there in connection with posting this news item, the information given was not completely up to date.
