Starz and Realnetworks Launch Subscription Premium Movie Service for Broadband

By Ivana Redwine, About.com

June 14, 2004

A flat-rate subscription plan for watching recently released motion pictures delivered via the Internet over high-speed broadband connections to PCs has launched. The service, called Starz! Ticket on Real Movies, is priced at $12.95 per month. There’s no limit on the number of films a subscriber can watch, but they must be selected from a rotating list of about 100 titles. Of course, the subscriber must either watch the movies on a PC screen or have a special connection between their PC and a TV screen. With so many options available today for viewing movies, this service might be best suited to travelers and people in tight quarters, such as dormitories or office cubicles.
