Woody Allen wrote and directed this talky comedy that stars Larry David (TV's Curb Your Enthusiasm) as the filmmaker's alter ego. The central character is physicist Boris Yellnikoff (David), a curmudgeon who ends up living in a shabby Manhattan apartment and eking out a living teaching chess to little kids. One day he meets a troubled young woman from Mississippi named Melody (Evan Rachel Wood), and despite the big difference in their ages, they get married. Eventually, Melody's mother (Patricia Clarkson) and father (Ed Begley Jr.) come to New York.
