Ask the Dust Movie Summary:
Colin Farrell and Salma Hayek star in this drama, which was written and directed by Robert Towne based on John Fante's autobiographical novel. Farrell plays Arturo Bandini, a struggling young writer in Depression-era L.A., who was Fante's alter ego in the book. He lives in a dingy hotel and is aware that he may end up like his impoverished old neighbor (Donald Sutherland). Also, Bandini gets into a stormy relationship with a sexy Mexican waitress (Hayek), but neither fits well into the dreams of the other.
