Sandra Bullock plays an aggressively wacky character named Mary Horowitz in this comedy, and Bullock is supported by Bradley Cooper and Thomas Haden Church. Mary is a creator of crossword puzzles who talks excessively, uses obscure words and sprinkles her conversation with esoteric factoids. Also, she dresses strangely, including wearing bright red boots. But she meets and falls for a cable-news cameraman named Steve (Cooper) and chases him around as he goes on his assignments. When deaf children get trapped in a cave-in, Mary redeems herself.
