Although I found "Crank Yankers - Season One Uncensored" on DVD to be hilarious, I also considered it a bit of a guilty pleasure because of the low-brow nature of the humor. Of course I wasn’t expecting anything too sophisticated here, given that the show consists of puppets making a variety of crank calls that definitely live up to the “uncensored” part of this two-disc DVD set’s title. What was unexpected was how hilarious many of these crank calls were.
In addition to two unaired calls, the bonus materials contain “Dial T for Torment: A Mini Documentary,” which is basically a making-of featurette where the cast and creators talk about the show. Quite frankly, I was bored by this featurette, but fans of the show will probably enjoy it better than I did. The two unaired calls weren’t the show’s funniest material, and I wouldn’t blame anyone for skipping over them.
