Michael Keaton (Batman) plays the male lead in this non-formulaic character study, which also marks his directorial debut. But the most important character is portrayed by Scottish actress Kelly Macdonald (No Country for Old Men). Frank Logan (Keaton) is a successful hit man, but he is emotionally troubled. Kate Frazier (Macdonald) is a nice young receptionist who has moved to Chicago to get away from her abusive husband. Frank's and Kate's lives intersect under unusual circumstances, and they bond.
