Page Two: More About the Bonus Materials

I think Scorsese was wise to cut the musical numbers short in the documentary, but I thoroughly enjoyed the full-length versions of the eight Dylan performances provided as extras on Disc Two: "Blowin' in the Wind," "Girl of the North Country," "Man of Constant Sorrow," "Mr. Tambourine Man," "Love Minus Zero/No Limit," "I Can't Leave Her Behind," "Like a Rolling Stone" and "One Too Many Mornings." I also enjoyed the four extra songs on Disc Two by four "guest" performers: Mavis Staples, Liam Clancy and Maria Muldaur do their songs a cappella, while Joan Baez accompanies herself on guitar as she sings "Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word." The only other bonus material is an unused 1965 promotional spot for Dylan's song "Positively 4th Street," and I found this only mildly interesting.

On both Disc One and Disc Two, there's a menu option "Bob Dylan Performances" that I at first thought would lead to some sort of bonus material, but it doesn't. All this option does is permit you to go directly to the place in the documentary where part of a specific song is performed.

Below I've listed all the details for the "No Direction Home" DVD set.
