The second disc contains 41 additional scenes, 28 of them accessed by selecting "Additional Scenes" at the main menu, the remaining 13 accessed by choosing "This Monster Lives" at the main menu. Also on the second disc under "Festivals and Premieres" there is footage from a Sundance Q&A, a Sundance Press Conference, the San Francisco Film Festival, the documentary's New York premiere, and a Metallica fan club screening in New York.
The movie itself is what made this DVD set worth watching. Of course, there are plenty of bonus materials, including two separate commentary tracks. I found Metallicas commentary a disappointment, but the one by the filmmakers was intelligent enough to be of interest.
Personally, Id recommend the movie only as a rental, but Metallica fans might disagree and prefer to own it.
