Worthwhile Bonus Materials
All the DVD bonus materials are worth a look. There's video Linda shot in 1992 of Bukowski reading his work in their San Pedro home. There's also a ribald, but sweet, deleted scene about the real-life incident that inspired an episode in the novel Women (1978). And there's a making-of featurette that's essentially an interview with filmmaker John Dullaghan.
Other DVD extras include four extended interviews, two of which are with John Martin and Linda Lee Bukowski. Another is with musician Bono, who is a big Bukowski fan. The fourth interview is with Taylor Hackford, best known as the director of Ray (2004), but the connection here is that in 1973 Hackford made a documentary on Bukowski for a public television station.
