Deleted Scenes and Director's Reflections
The DVD contains many deleted scenes with a total run time of 28 minutes. Most are of little interest, although the first two are amusing. The first of these shows a newly married couple having wedding photos taken beside the Han River, and when the bride thinks there's a snake in the grass, she jumps up into the groom's arms. The second shows a man trying to talk to an attractive young woman in a bar about seeing something dark in the river, but she is distracted by a soccer match showing on a big-screen TV. These are both examples of Bong's use of humor, but he did well to cut them because the movie is too long.
Also on the DVD is a curious five-and-a-half-minute Korean-language featurette titled "Director Bong Joon-ho's Reflections." In it he apologizes to various people for things he did while making the film. But this does give us an opportunity to see this apparently up-and-coming young director at the age of about 37.
