88 Minutes DVD
Al Pacino stars in this thriller. The main character is Dr. Jack Gramm (Pacino), a renowned forensic psychiatrist who teaches at a university. It was his testimony that put a man (Neal McDonough) on death row for serial murder, but some similar killings occur while that man is behind bars. Then Gramm gets a phone call telling him he will die in 88 minutes, and the clock starts ticking. As Gramm tries to figure out what is going on, he interfaces with an assistant (Amy Brenneman), a pair of good-looking students (Alicia Witt, Leelee Sobieski) and a dean (Deborah Kara Unger).

Made of Honor DVD
Patrick Dempsey and Michelle Monaghan are paired in this romantic comedy. Tom (Dempsey) is a wealthy playboy who has a platonic relationship with his college pal Hannah (Monaghan). Then she meets and gets engaged to a handsome Scotsman (Kevin McKidd), causing Tom to realize he loves Hannah and wants to marry her. When Hannah breaks tradition slightly by asking Tom to function as her maid of honor, he accepts so he can pursue an agenda of sabotaging the wedding and winning her for himself. The late Sydney Pollack plays Tom's often-married father.

Speed Racer DVD
This is a Wachowski brothers movie based on a Japanese-made anime cartoon TV series that has aired in the US with English-speaking voices. But the movie has live actors, including Emile Hirsch, Christina Ricci, John Goodman and Susan Sarandon, moving through fanciful, garishly colored computer-generated environments, and the result is not unlike a video game. The action centers on frenetic auto races where the laws of physics have been repealed, and the hero is a driver named Speed Racer (Hirsch). The villain (Roger Allam) is a corrupt corporate mogul.

Leatherheads DVD
George Clooney directed this film, and he and Renée Zellweger are its stars. The movie is more or less in the spirit of old screwball comedies. The story is set in 1925 when college football was a big deal, but the professional version of the game was played in shabby venues before sparse crowds. Dodge Connelly (Clooney) is an aging pro player in Duluth who manages to recruit Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), idolized as both a college player and a war hero. But Lexie Littleton (Zellweger), a Chicago newspaper reporter, begins digging into Carter's background.

Run, Fat Boy, Run DVD
Simon Pegg and Thandie Newton star in this comedy. Also in the cast is Hank Azaria, and the movie marks the big-screen directorial debut of David Schwimmer. The film's prologue shows Dennis (Pegg) preparing to marry his pregnant girlfriend Libby (Newton), but at the last minute, he runs away. The body of the story takes place a few years later when Libby has a new boyfriend, Whit (Azaria). Now Dennis finally realizes she is the love of his life, and he sets out to win her back. But the only way he can prove himself is to compete against Whit in a marathon.

Sex and the City DVD
This is the movie version of the popular HBO TV series that ended in 2004, and Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Chris Noth all reprise their roles in the film. The movie picks up four years after the series finale and continues to be Manhattan-based, focusing on the romantic and sexual relationships of the four female leads. The ladies still like to drink cosmopolitans, a mix of vodka, Cointreau or Triple Sec, cranberry juice and limejuice. Carrie (Parker) and Mr. Big (Noth) contemplate marriage, and Jennifer Hudson joins the cast.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall DVD
This is another comedy produced by Judd Apatow that mixes raunchiness with sweetness. The main character is an average-looking guy named Peter Bretter (Jason Segel) who gets dumped by his beautiful girlfriend Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell). Peter tries to get over his heartbreak by traveling to Hawaii, but he happens to check into the same resort where Sarah is vacationing with her new rocker boyfriend (Russell Brand). However, he becomes friendly with the attractive receptionist (Mila Kunis). Apatow regulars Bill Hader, Jonah Hill and Paul Rudd are in the movie.

Iron Man DVD
Starring Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, this action-adventure movie tells the story of the origins of a Marvel Comics superhero. Also in the cast are Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard and Jeff Bridges. In the film, Tony Stark (Downey) is an American billionaire playboy and businessman whose company makes high-tech weaponry. On a marketing trip to Afghanistan, Tony is captured by guerillas, but he devises an incredible suit of armor that enables him to escape. Returning home, he decides to stop making weapons and improve the suit so it can be used to fight evil.

Jellyfish DVD
This Israeli movie is a seriocomedy from husband-wife filmmakers Etgar Keret and Shira Geffen. It's an ensemble piece that tells the intersecting stories of a few of the people at a Tel Aviv wedding. The newlyweds, Michael (Gera Sandler) and Keren (Noa Knoller), have problems when she breaks her leg at the reception. Batya (Sarah Adler) is a waitress working for the caterer, but her life is changed by a little girl who comes out of the sea. In another story strand, Joy (Ma-nenita De Latorre) is a Filipino immigrant who's at the wedding as a caregiver for an old woman.
