Movie's DVD Release Only 4 Days After Theatrical

A low-budget movie titled "Bubble" is scheduled to have its theatrical release on Friday, January 27, 2006, and its DVD release on the following Tuesday, January 31. Although the film has no name actors in its cast, it was directed by Steven Soderbergh ("Traffic," "Ocean's Eleven"). The strategy of releasing a movie on DVD nearly simultaneously with its theatrical release is new and is being watched with great interest throughout the film industry. However, even if the strategy proves successful for "Bubble," it might not be deemed suitable for big-budget movies with big-name stars.
