"Spider-Man 2" DVD Easter Eggs

By , About.com Guide

I know of three DVD Easter eggs on the "Spider-Man 2" two-disc set, and I’ll describe below how you can find them.

At the top-level menu on Disc 1, highlight "Special Features" and press the Enter button. Then highlight "Commentaries" and press Enter. When the next menu appears, highlight "Off" under the words "Technical Commentary." Then press the right arrow button on the remote, followed by the up arrow button. A spider icon will light up. Press Enter to see director Sam Raimi in a filmed "Spider-Man 2" promo made for a Japanese press group.

At the top-level menu on Disc 2, highlight "Making the Amazing" and press Enter. When the next menu appears, press the up arrow button on the remote. One of Doc Ock’s tentacles will light up. Press Enter to see something that apparently happened during rehearsal involving Raimi, actor Alfred Molina, and a guest who will be familiar to most viewers from the earlier "Spider-Man" and many other movies.

At the top-level menu on Disc 2, highlight "Gallery" and press Enter. When the next menu appears, press the up arrow button on the remote. The zigzag lines over Spider-Man's head will light up. Press Enter to see Molina singing a few bars of "If I Were a Rich Man." (The versatile Molina played the role of Tevya in "Fiddler on the Roof" on Broadway.)
