"Collateral" DVD Easter Eggs

By , About.com Guide

I know of five DVD Easter eggs on the “Collateral” two-disc set, and I'll describe below how you can find them. All are on Disc Two, and all are accessed from the "Special Features" menu. The procedure for finding them is similar in all cases.

Highlight "City of Night: The Making of Collateral" and press the left arrow button. An off-white rectangle will appear toward the left of the screen. Press Enter, and you will see some of the work done by director and cast in making the Asian nightclub scene.

Highlight "Special Delivery" and press the left arrow button. An off-white rectangle will appear toward the left of the screen. Press Enter, and you will see some of the work done in the scene where Tom Cruise throws a chair through a window.

Highlight "Shooting on Location: Annie's Office" and press the left arrow button. An off-white rectangle will appear toward the left of the screen. Press Enter, and you will see some of the work done in the overturned taxicab scene.

Highlight "Tom Cruise & Jamie Foxx Rehearse" and press the left arrow button. An off-white rectangle will appear toward the left of the screen. Press Enter, and you will hear director Michael Mann talk about how in every scene except one, Cruise is always seen to the left of Foxx.

To get to the fifth egg, use "More" on the first Special Features menu page to get to the second. Then highlight "Cast" and press the right arrow button. An off-white rectangle will appear toward the right of the screen. Press Enter, and you will hear Jamie Foxx talk about how everyone was always waiting for Michael Mann to indicate his satisfaction by giving a thumbs-up.
