Easter Egg

By Ivana Redwine, About.com

Definition: A DVD bonus material that the menu system gives the user no obvious way to access. Ordinarily, the text on the DVD packaging will not mention the presence of an Easter egg on the disc. Although the terminology suggests that an Easter egg is hidden content that a determined user could find simply by hunting around, some are so tricky that it's often best to obtain instructions from the Internet before beginning the search. As an example, consider the Easter egg on Disc 1 of Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith. It is accessed by going to the OPTIONS menu, highlighting the THX icon and punching in the number 11, followed by 3, followed by 8. This will cause a short video to play in which Yoda makes some hip-hop moves to "Don't Say Nuthin'" by The Roots.
