Definitely, Maybe is an entertaining, smart and funny mix of comedy and drama. Sharp dialogue, charming lead actors, location shooting and an unusual dramatic structure add to this film's appeal. The entertainment value alone of the feature film itself makes Definitely, Maybe worth renting. Fans of Definitely, Maybe will want to consider purchasing it so they can watch the film repeatedly. The DVD also has special features, including an audio commentary
A visual delight, Diva was innovative when it was released in 1981 and is still fun to watch today. The film is breezy and more about how great everything looks than it is about story, but its brashness is enhanced by bizarre characters and odd incidents. This is a movie that has panache. The DVD contains some extras, but could use some pedagogical materials to help viewers better appreciate the movie. However, the DVD is worth watching for the strength of the feature film alone.
A moving and often cinematically dazzling adaptation of Jean-Dominique Bauby's memoir, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly was nominated for four Academy Awards. The superb visual style of the film evokes the horror and beauty of Bauby's inner world as Schnabel interweaves the memories and reveries of a man afflicted with locked-in syndrome. The DVD provides an excellent audio commentary track with director Julian Schnabel, but the DVD is worth buying for the artistic value of the feature film.
Home Video / DVD Guide Ivana Redwine reviews Deliver Us From Evil on DVD. Deliver Us From Evil is one of the most memorable documentaries you'll ever see. Read the review and find out more about the fascinating and horrifying movie Deliver Us From Evil on DVD.
The Good Shepherd is a character study of the fictional Edward Wilson. I was impressed by the way the film traces his transformation from a college student interested in poetry and theater to an emotionally shutdown and ruthless CIA official. The movie also gains resonance in its father-son story. The only extras on the DVD are seven deleted scenes with a total run time of 16 minutes. But at least for viewers who sometimes like intellectual films, I recommend The Good Shepherd DVD as a rental.

Despite featuring gratuitous gore, "DarkWolf" is a horror movie that’s not scary. Although it has a few entertaining moments, this movie seems cynically conceived and has no redeeming artistic value. Read a DVD review and overview of "DarkWolf."

Here's a quick overview and brief review of the "Doctor Zhivago" DVD.
Mozart's 1787 Italian-language opera "Don Giovanni" stands as one of the greatest achievements in the history of music, and I think the innovative 1979 Joseph Losey movie version of that opera brilliantly captures its spirit on film. Read my DVD review of "Don Giovanni."
A DVD review of "Dr. Strangelove," Stanley Kubrick's timeless black comedy about technology gone awry.
There have many movie adaptations of the Dracula story, but to my mind, nothing tops the 1931 classic starring Bela Lugosi in the title role. Of course, circa 1931 special effects don't match the visual wizardry of modern movies, but the eerie atmosphere this film creates in my imagination is perhaps the most potent effect ever invented. "Dragonfly" is overly long and the characters in the movie are insufficiently developed. Even its talented cast couldn't breathe much life into their roles given the script. However, this movie wasn't as bad as some of the reviews led me to expect. Read my DVD overview and brief review of "Dragonfly."
The 1982 version of "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" is a great classic film, and the 2002 update is the best version of this movie yet. Read a review of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial on DVD.
Elvis' many fans will enjoy this intimate look into the life of a legend, and Mr. Esposito's commentary makes it interesting even to those who are just becoming familiar with Elvis Presley.
Although its brand of humor may not be to everyone’s taste and the show is a little uneven, when everything works right, the "Family Guy" is fast, smart, and side-splittingly funny. Read a brief review and overview of the "Family Guy - Volume Two" DVD set.
“Far From Heaven” combines fine acting, stunning cinematography, good dialogue, and a lush score in one of the most engaging movies I’ve seen recently. Read a review of “Far From Heaven” on DVD.
Although the science fiction/western concept of the show didn't completely come together for me, "Firefly" was still worth-watching and was entertaining. In addition, the DVD set has bonus materials that fans of the series will be interested in. Read a review of "Firefly – The Complete Series" on DVD.

I laughed myself silly watching the "Futurama – Season One" DVDs. Both fans and those new to this animated TV show by "The Simpsons" creator Matt Groening will probably enjoy this DVD set. Read a review of "Futurama - Season One" on DVD.
“Futurama” can be just plain silly at times, but it’s also often funny and well-written with lots of wit and smart satire. I laughed loud and often watching “Futurama - Volume Two” on DVD. Read a review of this animated TV show on DVD.

Although "Glengarry Glen Ross" is pretty stagy, I loved the sparkling dialogue and the brilliant performances by the all-star cast.
I think that "Gosford Park" ranks with some of director Robert Altman's best work. The film has aspects of an Agatha Christie mystery, but what I like best about the movie is that it's a closely observed study of a fascinating social milieu. Read a brief DVD review of "Gosford Park."
