"Glengarry Glen Ross" DVDs
I love sparkling dialogue delivered by top-notch actors, and that's
what you get when you watch "Glengarry Glen Ross." The movie
takes us through about 18 hours in the lives of four hard-driving
salesmen and their office manager. Ethics play no role as the salesmen
try to induce investors to make dubious purchases of land in Arizona
and Florida, and two of the four salesmen will lose their jobs if
they can't close deals soon. But when management withholds the names
of hot prospects, the office is robbed, triggering an investigation.
I loved the brilliant verbal interplay between Lemmon, Pacino, Harris,
Arkin, and Spacey, and Alec Baldwin gives one of the most memorable
speeches ever. I admit this movie is a bit stagy, but the inherent
drama in the film's many closely observed moments more than compensates. |
