movie is a sequel to the 1999 film The Mummy. Brendan Fraser and Rachel
Weisz reprise their roles from the earlier movie, but nine years have passed and
in the interim Rick (Fraser) and Evy (Weisz) have married and have an eight-year-old
son Alex. In the sequel, Rick, Evy, and Alex are exploring ancient Egyptian ruins
when they discover a gold bracelet that once belonged to the Scorpion King (The
Rock), which triggers a series of adventures fraught with peril. To complicate
matters further, the mummy Imhotep (Arnold Vosloo) is again resurrected. Brendan
Fraser’s comedic talents provide a few laughs, and the film features some entertaining
special effects and exciting action sequences. But the movie felt slick and soulless,
and I was bored long before it was over. |
