"The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" DVD
A sword-and-sorcery fantasy, "The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship
of the Ring" centers around little Frodo (Elijah Wood), who is
given a magic ring. Frodo, the wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen), and
seven others form the Fellowship and embark on a perilous quest to
destroy the ring in order to save the world from the evil Sauron,
the Lord of the Rings. I found this movie to be dazzlingly cinematic
and intellectually engaging, and Ian McKellen is superb as Gandalf.
Stunning location shooting and terrific special effects bring J.R.R.
Tolkien's much-loved novel to vivid life on the screen. Because of
the density of the material, I enjoyed "The Lord of the Rings:
The Fellowship of the Ring" even better on DVD than in the theater. |
