"MTV Unplugged 2.0" DVD
I thoroughly enjoyed "MTV Unplugged
2.0," the new concert DVD by Lauryn Hill, formerly of the Fugees. This is
her second solo album, the first having been "The Miseducation of Lauryn
Hill" (1998). Filmed in an intimate setting, "MTV Unplugged 2.0"
consists almost entirely of Ms. Hill's singing and accompanying herself on acoustic
guitar, along with her line of patter between musical numbers. I found the performance
moving and was fascinated by her interesting lyrics and soulful delivery. The
camera work consists mainly of photographing the performance and the audience's
reaction to it. But to my mind, Lauryn's expressive face adds a fascinating element
that lends visual interest to the DVD. |
