There are some interesting new video and DVD releases slated for December 23, 2003, including "Alex and Emma," "Anything Else," "Jeepers Creepers 2," and "The Medallion." In addition, we'll take a sneak peek at next week's movies on video/DVD.

"Alex and Emma"

Tagline: "Is it love... or are they just imagining things."

Length: 96 minutes
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for sexual content and some language

This romantic comedy pairs Luke Wilson and Kate Hudson. Alex (Wilson) will be killed if he doesn't pay off a big gambling debt in 30 days. His only hope is to write a novel, and he hires Emma (Hudson) as a stenographer to help him. The movie shows scenes from the novel with its characters being played by Wilson, Hudson, and Sophie Marceau. With time running out, Alex and Emma struggle to finish the novel and fall in love along the way.

"Anything Else"

Length: 108 minutes
MPAA Rating: R for a scene of drug use and some sexual references


Written and directed by Woody Allen, this comedy stars Jason Biggs and Christina Ricci. Biggs plays Jerry Falk, a young comedy writer whose career is going nowhere and whose relationship with his difficult live-in girlfriend Amanda (Ricci) has gone badly awry. Jerry turns to the older comedy writer David Dobel (Woody Allen) for advice, but the young man's troubles deepen when Amanda's mom (Stockard Channing) moves in with him.

"Jeepers Creepers 2"

MPAA Rating: R for horror violence and language

This horror movie is the sequel to "Jeepers Creepers" (2001) and brings back the Creeper (Jonathan Breck), a hibernating winged creature that awakens every 23 years and voraciously feeds for 23 days. This time around, a bus carrying a high school basketball team and cheerleaders is disabled on a country road, and the Creeper starts picking off his victims. Meanwhile, a farmer (Ray Wise) is on the way with a harpoon-like weapon.

"The Medallion"

Length: 88 minutes
MPAA Rating: PG-13 for action violence and some sexual humor


This is a Jackie Chan martial-arts action movie. Chan plays Eddie Yang, a Hong Kong cop who teams with Interpol agent Arthur Watson (Lee Evans) in an effort to apprehend the criminal Snakehead (Julian Sands). Snakehead kidnaps a young man who is the keeper of a magic medallion and flees to Ireland. Eddie and Watson follow him there and join forces with another Interpol agent (Claire Forlani) as they try to set things right.
