This action comedy stars Anthony Hopkins and Chris Rock. Gaylord Oakes (Hopkins) and Kevin Pope (Rock) are undercover CIA agents who set out to buy a nuclear device from a shady arms dealer. The dealer trusts only Kevin, so it looks as though the CIA sting operation will fall through when he is killed. But it turns out that Kevin had a twin brother, although the twins were separated at birth and never knew about each other. The CIA manages to convince the living twina ticket scalper named Jake Hayes (also played by Rock)to fill in for his slain brother. Jake has only nine days to learn to imitate his late brother before he and Oakes must complete the purchase of the nuclear device. But other possible buyers complicate the situation, resulting in lots of chases, stunts, and action sequences.

"Everybody loves Ernest ... but nobody's quite sure who he really is."
Length:
97 minutes
MPAA Rating:
PG for mild sensuality
Rupert Everett, Colin Firth, Reese Witherspoon, Judi Dench and Frances O'Connor star in this screen adaptation of Oscar Wilde's famous play. In 1890s England, Algy Moncrieff (Everett) and Jack Worthing (Firth) are both bachelors. Jack, going by the name Ernest, is romantically attracted to Algy's cousin Gwendolen (O'Connor). Furthermore, Jack is the guardian of Cecily (Witherspoon), and Algy, also going by the name Ernest, is romantically attracted to her. This leads to comic confusion as both Cecily and Gwendolen believe they are being courted by "Ernest." Dench plays the haughty Lady Bracknell, Gwendolen's mother and Algy's aunt. Wilde's play is noted for witty dialogue spoken in a drawing room setting, but this movie version moves much of the story outdoors on a country estate.
