"Super Troopers" (2002)

DVD Cover

Tagline: "Altered state police."

Length: 103 minutes
MPAA Rating: R for language, sexual content, and drug use

Featuring little-known actors, this comedy revolves around a small unit of goofy state troopers who patrol a part of Vermont where there isn't much crime. The troopers enjoy horsing around with motorists they pull over and exchanging facetious dialogue with each other in diners. But they run into a problem when the governor threatens to close down their unit and leave law enforcement to the local police. When a drug-smuggling case crops up, the troopers and the local cops compete to try to solve it. There's a slight complication, though, when one of the troopers becomes romantically involved with a local policewoman. The movie's thin plot exists primarily as a vehicle for the cast, several of whom are members of a comedy troupe called Broken Lizard, to move from one skit to the next.
