Ronald Reagan
1911-2004

Ronald Reagan (1911 - 2004), former President of the United States, has passed away at age 93, but some younger people may not be aware that he originally gained fame as a Hollywood actor, appearing in 53 films. I think his best performance was in the excellent "Kings Row" (1942), which is still available on VHS. Of course, he is most famous for playing George "The Gipper" Gipp in "Knute Rockne All American" (1940), and it is still possible to obtain this entertaining movie on VHS. Currently, the most readily available of Reagan's films is the only one he made with his wife Nancy Davis, the cult favorite "Hellcats of the Navy" (1957). Of course, there are a number of documentaries about Reagan available on both VHS and DVD.
