The Bottom Line
Some have typed this film as a food movie, but I consider it to be more of a character study. I enjoyed the character development showing one woman going through a subtle but meaningful change.

Guide Review - Mostly Martha DVD Review
This comedy-drama stars Martina Gedeck as Martha Klein, a chef in an upscale restaurant who takes great pride in her job. She's a single woman who doesn't have much of a personal life, but things change when her sister's eight-year-old daughter comes to live with her. Also, Martha feels threatened when a man named Mario (Sergio Castellitto) is hired as an additional chef at the restaurant. But as Martha grapples with these changes, she gradually comes to a better understanding of what she wants out of life. Some have typed this film as a food movie, but I consider it to be more of a character study. One thing I enjoyed about this film was the character development showing one woman going through a subtle but meaningful change.
