I don’t know if I could be called a fan yet, but after seeing “Highlander Season Four” on DVD, the series is starting to grow on me. With its handsome, charismatic lead actor Adrian Paul and an intriguing use of flashbacks, I’m beginning to understand why the “Highlander” TV series has a following.
I enjoyed watching the season four DVDs even better than the season three DVD set. I’m not entirely sure why. Perhaps this series is more enjoyable when you’ve seen more of it and have become more familiar with its characters.
Much like the “Highlander” series of movies it is based on, the show’s premise is basically the stuff of totally unbelievable science fiction and fantasy. Much of what I watched seemed so incredible and unbelievable that I was never completely pulled into the story. However, I still think that this TV show is worth watching as mildly entertaining, escapist fare.
“Highlander” fans will probably enjoy this DVD set even more than I did, especially since in addition to all 22 episodes from the fourth season of the series, the DVD set has a variety of interesting bonus materials, including deleted and alternate scenes, commentaries, series trivia, and more.
