The Bottom Line

Although the science fiction/western concept of the show didn't completely come together for me, "Firefly" was still worth watching and was entertaining. In addition, the DVD set has bonus materials that fans of the series will be interested in.

Cons

Guide Review - "Firefly – The Complete Series" DVD Review

I wasn’t surprised that "Firefly" was so imaginative, especially since this TV series was created by Joss Whedon who is the creative force behind the cult TV shows "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel." However, the mix of science fiction and shoot-em-up western genres in "Firefly" didn't completely come together for me. In addition, the stories in some of the episodes didn’t seem completely thought out and consequently lost credibility to my mind. Yet, I still found "Firefly" was worth watching and entertaining enough to hold my interest much of the time, and I suspect the show's fans will enjoy this DVD set even more than I did. The DVDs have bonus materials that include commentaries on selected episodes.
