The Bottom Line
The fifth season of the TV show "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" has an effective and entertaining mix of comedy, horror, and drama, but it also can be a little uneven. Some episodes work a lot better than others, but overall it was worth watching on DVD.

The fifth season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" has an effective and entertaining mix of comedy, horror, and drama, but it also can be a little uneven. To my mind, both in terms of story and character, "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" occasionally falls into self-parody in season five, making it hard to take some of the show's dramatic aspects seriously. Some episodes work a lot better than others in terms of drama/entertainment. However, I found the DVDs worth watching and predict that fans of this entertaining and imaginative series will probably enjoy them even more than I did.
