The Bottom Line

I found this suspense movie to be truly creepy and horrifying. What made the film compelling to me was the portrait of modern loneliness and disconnection it created.

Guide Review - “One Hour Photo” DVD Review

I found this suspense movie to be truly creepy and horrifying. I thought Robin Williams was chilling in his portrayal of Sy Parrish, the man people go to when they get their photos developed at SavMart, a large discount department store. After developing the family photos for the Yorkins for years, he becomes obsessed with their seemingly perfect life. Eventually, Sy loses touch with reality and imagines himself as part of the Yorkin family. When he discovers they’re imperfect, his fragile sanity shatters, and he takes it upon himself to set things right. What made this movie compelling to me was the portrait of modern loneliness and disconnection it created.
