Guide Review - "NYPD Blue - Season One" DVD Review

This DVD set deepened my appreciation of this excellent, groundbreaking police drama that is arguably one of the best episodic TV series ever made. With its fascinating characters, compelling performances, and strong stories, the first season of "NYPD Blue" on DVD drew me in completely. I enjoyed watching Detectives John Kelly (Caruso) and Andy Sipowicz (Franz) battle criminals on the street, in addition to dealing with personal and romantic problems. Sipowicz struggles with his alcoholism as he tries to put a toupee-wearing mobster behind bars. Kelly goes through a divorce and tries to protect his new girlfriend after she kills a mob boss.
