Guide Review - "All About Eve" DVD

"All About Eve" is a drama about a group of urbane characters whose lives revolve around the New York theater world as it was in the late 1940s. I think Bette Davis will always be remembered for her performance in the film as Margo Channing, an established 40-year-old star who's going through a mid-life crisis. But I'll also always remember Anne Baxter in the title role of Eve Harrington, an amoral, conniving young woman who's willing to do almost anything to become a star actress. I loved the performances, including those of actors in relatively minor roles. A superb screenplay, arguably the sharpest dialogue in any movie, and richly developed characters make for one of the best of the classic Hollywood films.
