Pick of the Week: Casablanca DVD
Casablanca is beloved by a wide cross-section of Americans, and it's been a favorite of mine for as long as I can remember. This seems to me to be one of the relatively few films that is highly regarded by both cineastes and the general public alike. Read a full-length review of the two-disc Special Edition DVD set of this great classic that is loaded with extras.

DVD Pick: “My Darling Clementine”
For me, Ford's genius lay in his use of a lyrical visual style to convey his grand theme of the civilizing of the American West. Read a review of the movie My Darling Clementine on DVD.

DVD Pick: “Meet Me in St. Louis”
Judy Garland is at her most winsome in Meet Me in St. Louis, the glorious Technicolor movie that ushered in the golden age of the MGM musical. I think the film would be worth seeing just for the production number The Trolley Song alone, and Garland's haunting rendition of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is unforgettable. At last this great classic movie gets the DVD treatment it deserves. It looks and sounds terrific, and it comes as a two-disc set loaded with extras.
