Pick of the Week: “X2: X-Men United” DVD
I'd never mistake X2: X-Men United for high art, but it is a thoroughly enjoyable movie.

DVD Pick: "Kill Bill Vol. 1"
A review of the movie Kill Bill Vol. 1 on DVD.

Pick of the Week "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" DVD
This is an adventure movie aimed at grownups—although I expect many youngsters will like it as well--and it's the interactions among the men aboard a British warship that held my interest. I see this film as basically a drama in the humanist tradition, yet there are two exciting naval battle sequences and a spectacular storm at sea. Read a review of Master and Commander The Far Side of the World on DVD.

Pick of the Week: "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" DVD
I found The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers to be highly cinematic moviemaking and mythic storytelling. However, it's basically an action-adventure movie, and for me some of the action sequences became tedious. Read a full-length DVD review of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.
