Blockbuster stores have shortened their base DVD rental period to three days. (It was formerly five days.) They still charge $4.99 for renting the latest DVD releases, but most other rentals now cost $2.99. They offer some DVDs for as little as $0.99, but these are generally not popular titles. There are stickers on each box specifying the price, and the sticker on many of the $2.99 DVDs bears the words "Top Pick." There may be other changes in the future as Blockbuster struggles with its bankruptcy filing. However, one advantage they have over their main competitors is that they are able to offer many titles 28 days earlier than Netflix and Redbox.
