Paul Newman, legendary Hollywood actor and sometime producer and director, has died at age 83. He had major roles in over 50 movies and is probably best remembered for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969). Nine times he was nominated for a Best Actor Academy Award and won for The Color of Money (1986). He was particularly good at portraying an anti-hero, as in Hud (1963) and Cool Hand Luke (1967). But he was a versatile actor, as shown by his performances in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958), Exodus (1960), The Sting (1973), Absence of Malice (1981) and The Verdict (1982). All of these titles are available on DVD, and watching them is a good way of honoring Newman's memory.
